Group Roles: Facilitator: Larry
Coach: Andrea
Reporter: Melissa
Resource Manager: Paul
Activities Completed
(1) Be sure that you have completed the assigned readings this week.
(2) Based on your decision to work independently or with a group, make a plan to complete the remaining steps of this task.
(3) Select one of the approaches to analyze:
Community of Practice: A process of social learning where a group of teachers collaborate over time to exchange information, share ideas, and find solutions. This collaboration may take place online, face-to-face, or in a blended approach and may involve the use of Web 2.0 tools.
E-Learning: Computer-enhanced learning that may involve teachers participating in structured courses. It may include the use of discussion boards, web-based materials, learning management software, simulations, etc.
Electronic Portfolio: A purposeful, organized collection of artifacts that demonstrates a teacher’s effort, progress, and achievement in teaching and learning.
(4) Conduct your analysis of the selected approach by briefly responding to each part of the prompt below. Research as needed to learn more about your selected approach to professional development. (5) Post your response to the designated column in the class Wikispace. Note, this space is shared with both ISTE sections so that you have the benefit of seeing the entire cohort's response. Task 2: Review the Analyses
(6) Read the postings of your classmates in the latter part of the week, and post at least two additional responses by the end of the week. Be sure to contribute at least one comment to each approach that you did not initially select.
As the discussion grows, look for similarities in classmates’ analyses. By the end of the week, you will have a bank of strategies and resources for effectively implementing three approaches to professional development.
